It's early afternoon and the Technocrat aircraft are over the Hunterian nation. Heading to designated landing and drop off locations, the monolithic sized force blots out the sun in many areas. About ten minutes of being over Hunterian soil, the Technocrat forces begin taking on Anti-Aircraft flak and having to engage in evasive maneuvers. The majority make it out of the AA zone unscathed, some having minor to moderate damage. A few however are shot down. One such plane, a heavy transport carrying an M578 Armored Fighting Vehicle as well as a few other 578 units and crews with supplies is shot down. The transport, the "Dark Matter Rising" piloted by Captain Michael Johannes was known as a steady plane with a veteran crew.
As the Dark Matter Rising is attempting to avoid flak fire and not maneuver into another plane, the craft is hit by flak in both wings and four of its six engines are taken out. Captain Johannes gets on the radio "Volunteer command, Volunteer Command. This is the Dark Matter Rising. We've been hit. We're going down. I repeat, we've been hit and are going down." He hits the emergency transponder activating it. He then gets on the intercom "Everyone, brace yourselves. Four of our six engines are gone. We're going down." he throws the com to the side and focuses on trying to control the plane with his co-pilot. Meanwhile, in the back. The five M578's crew are busy bracing themselves and trying survive. The cargo area is then hit and a portion is blown out and two of the vehicles drop along with more than a dozen men and supplies. The end unit, a M578 Armored Fighting Vehicle is quickly being boarded by Captain Erica Winters and her crew. "Come on Come on!" she yells to her crew "Move it, get in and buckle up!" when everyone is boarded, she hits the door seal button and straps into the pilots seat of the M578. The crew and marines strap in and brace themselves. They wait. The M578 in question is the "Matrix Madame". A M578 Anti-Armor unit that has been modified by its crew and maintenance personnel quite extensively. Captain Winters is a veteran Technocrat soldier and has been in active service for twelve years. She learned early on that the M578's are great vehicles but needed extra reinforcing on their suspension and weapon systems. She's also been in many drop events where the Matrix Madame has been dropped out of a plane attached to parachutes. Because of this, she has had the M578's suspension and weapon systems reinforced and had disposable chute dispensers installed. "Okay men! As long as the plane holds together, when we get to two-hundred feet, we will open the cargo door open and get our asses out of here. Hold tight and remember your training. Remember your training and you will survive." So they wait.
At two-hundred feet, the cargo ramp door opens when she hits the emergency system activation code and the cargo bay is rushed as the air pressure changes. Captain Winters hits the gas and the Matrix Madame launches out of the plane and leaves rubber on the cargo deck. Looking like a base jumper off a bridge, the Matrix Madame's dark green paint scheme looks like a blur. As it plummets towards the ground, Captain Winters hits the emergency chute dispensers and four parachutes open up and everyone inside is jostled and shaken as the vehicle slows down as if it hit a wall. They can hear flak going off outside the vehicle. Captain Winters looks out a window and sees the Dark Matter Rising going down and as it hits the ground, she notices that the plane was under some control. How much damage was done, she can't tell. But she knows that the planes Captain was one of the nations best pilots and if anyone could save everyone on board, it would be him. Gunner Steven Glenn is sitting in one of the four seats next to Captain Winters. As the vehicle falls, he sits quietly and begins saying a prayer. The units only religious person, he has taken it upon himself to act as the units morality and conscience. Figuring it never hurts to ask for a little extra help. Sargent Wilma Townsend, sitting next to Gunner Glenn holds his hand and closes her eyes. The two have become close as she has begun wondering about the afterlife.
Suddenly, the Matrix madame slams into the ground at fast velocity and Captain Winters fights to maintain control of an out of control vehicle. Slamming through some smaller trees and bushes and digging into the ground quite a bit, the vehicle barely stays on its wheels as the Captain fights inertia. She hits the chute releases and the chute dispensers eject off the vehicle which greatly slows down the vehicle. And after what seems like an eternity, the Matrix Madame comes to a stop. Looking around, Captain Winters sees everyone alive. Vehicle sensors are making all sorts of noise and she begins looking at the damage. Luckily her reinforcing the suspension has paid off and only minor damage is done. Nothing that needs attention at this moment. And nothing that isn't repairable using on board tools.
Everyone runs to their stations and they begin looking for enemy forces. "REPORT!" Captain Winters yells out. The crew of the Matrix Madame examines their surroundings knowing that they are within enemy controlled land.
